OFFICER RORY BOHANAN

Officer Rory Bohanan was born on August 31, 1963. He was the first of the four generations of his family who all grew up on the family dairy farm in Contoocook, NH. He attended Hopkinton High School and then began his lifetime of service in the Navy in 1981, serving on the USS Emory S. Land. In 1987 he joined the NH Department of Corrections and then moved into law enforcement in 1998 part-time.
Officer Bohanan attended the 123rd NH Police Academy finishing 1st academically in his class. Officer Bohanan worked for both the Henniker and Hopkinton Police Departments before becoming the School Resource Officer at Hillsboro-Deering Schools. It was in this role that Officer Bohanan exhibited his excellence and merit. Known to many as “Officer Bo”, he not only ensured the students’ safety, but he was also a respected mentor to so many. Officer Bohanan frequently worked with the Special Olympics participating in the Torch Run year after year.
On May 10, 2022, Officer Bohanan suffered a fatal medical emergency just after exiting his cruiser at the Hillsboro-Deering Middle School. “Officer Bo” was set to retire from law enforcement on June 30th.
He is survived by, his wife, Rita Bohanan, his parents, Adelemarie and Glenn Bohanan, his two sisters and brother, his children, grandchildren, and his adopted family.
