Lawrence C. Prather

Lawrence C. Prather was born on December 17, 1979, in Vauxhall, NJ. He attended Union High School in Vauxhall, NJ, and began his dedicated service at the New Hampshire Department of Corrections in 2017. Corrections Officer Prather graduated with the 104th class of the New Hampshire Corrections Academy and during his six years with New Hampshire Department of Corrections, Officer Prather left a mark on his colleagues as a caring and dedicated team member. In April 2018, Officer Prather received a Team Commendation Award for his actions as part of the team’s response to a disturbance at the NH State Prison for Men. In December 2019, Office Prather transferred from the NH State Prison for Men to the Division of Rehabilitative Services where he closely worked with residents as they re-entered community life.
On January 25, 2023, while on duty for the NH Department of Corrections in Concord, Corrections Officer (CO) Prather suffered a medical emergency. Fellow corrections officers and nursing staff immediately started life saving efforts including providing CPR, getting an AED, and calling for an ambulance. Emergency medical personnel from the Concord Fire Department transported CO Prather to Concord Hospital where he died.
CO Prather resided in Pembroke, NH and enjoyed long rides on his motorcycle, working out at the gym and various forms of art. He had also picked up cornhole in the past years at the Lakes Region Baggerz.
CO Prather is survived by his two daughters, Cyan, and Sarina Prather; his brother, Will Stover; and his father, Willie Stover. In addition to his mother, he was predeceased by his brother, Phillip Prather.
